XLAOOC
EXTRA LARGE AND OUT OF CONTEXT is a benefit exhibition of giant-sized comics page prints held at Lula Cafe and online in the Spring of 2025 in conjunction with the Tongues book tour. The show was organized by Anders Nilsen and features large scale prints of several cartoonists’ original artwork. Participating artist’s include Yvan Alagbé, Charles Burns, Geneviève Castrée, CF, Kevin Huizenga, Jack Kirby, Aidan Koch, Marijpol, Anders Nilsen, Laura Park, and Chris Ware.
The prints are in an edition of three for each image and are big — most are roughly 32” x 44” or so — every detail, every gesture, printed in archival pigment on watercolor paper. And it’s a benefit. Proceeds go to Doctors Without Borders and the ACLU — we’re taking a break from helplessly watching the chaos unfold for a minute and trying to raise a little money for some of the remarkable people who are trying to do something about it all — to help, to resist, to heal. Please join us. The work in this show is stunning. One copy of each edition was on display and up for silent auction at Lula, the other two copies were auctioned online. The few that are still available are here.
